Why Did Yugo Asuma Graduate From NIJISANJI?

Yugo Asuma, a participant of the NIJISANJI Project, which is also referred to as NIJISANJI, is part of a collective of primarily 2D virtual YouTubers recognized as “Virtual Livers.” Like the rest of the group, Yugo is a Vtuber or online entertainer whose physical presence is simulated by a digital avatar. Their digital avatar serves as the medium for connecting and engaging with their audience, facilitated by motion capture technology and computer graphics.

Typically, avatars used in the virtual YouTuber trend are anime characters portrayed in either 2D or 3D forms, with the human content creator serving as the voice actor for the character. These characters often possess intricate backstories that may be complex or imbued with a mystical essence, while others may simply portray individuals or artists skilled in activities such as gaming, singing, or dancing. Originally emerging in 2010, the trend of virtual YouTubers has gained significant popularity in the 2020s. Initially dominated by Japanese artists, Vtuber groups have now expanded their presence to include participants from Korea, China, and even India.

ANCOLOR Inc. manages the NIJISANJI group, which was founded by Riku Tazumi. Established in February 2018, NIJISANJI was one of the pioneering Vtuber agencies. Yugo Asuma made his debut alongside Fulgur Ovid, Alban Knox, Uki Violeta, and Sonny Brisko. He is part of the fifth generation of NIJISANJI, known as Noctyx. Yugo Asuma joined NIJISANJI on February 8th, 2022, and has primarily focused on gaming and music. Apart from his YouTube channel, he is active on social media platforms like Marshmallow and Reddit. To date, he has shared over 110 videos.

So Why Was Yugo Graduated From The Team?

In this specific industry, “Graduation” refers to the departure of a Vtuber for various reasons. On December 14th, 2022, ANYCOLOR announced the graduation of NIJISANJI’s Vtuber Yugo Asuma. As a result, all activities of the Vtuber, including streaming, will cease, and any videos and tweets associated with the virtual star will be deleted. This unexpected decision has greatly surprised Yugo’s fan base, leaving many eager to uncover the reasons behind the Vtuber’s departure.

After careful consideration by ANYCOLOR and NIJISANJI, it has been reported by ANYCOLOR, a graduate from Yugo Asuma, that Yugo has been engaged in activities and behaviors that the company deems as “unacceptable.” Consequently, ANYCOLOR has stated that Noctyx will carry on without Yugo Asuma, with the remaining members who debuted alongside Yugo. This unexpected decision was made after extensive discussions and evaluations.

Yugo Asuma’s fellow Vtubers took to Twitter to address the incident, but refrained from sharing any specific details and instead expressed gratitude to the fans for their patience. ANYCOLOR’s statement regarding Yugo’s graduation was ambiguous, leaving the reasons behind his departure unclear. Nevertheless, it appears that his removal was involuntary. Asuma himself reached out to his fans soon after his removal, offering an apology and expressing his heartfelt appreciation for their unwavering support and presence in his life.

Yugo Asuma Controversies

  • On March 16th, 2022, a devastating earthquake struck Japan, resulting in numerous fatalities. Despite being personally affected by the tragedy, Yugo Asuma made a lighthearted joke about it, which he later expressed remorse for and issued an apology to his fans.
  • During Amamya Kokoro’s 2022 birthday stream, Yugo Asuma displayed disrespectful conduct. He directed offensive language towards Petra, a fellow Vtuber, instructing her to be silent. Despite muttering the comment, it was unintentionally magnified by a microphone and transmitted during the stream. This incident was just one instance of Yugo Asuma’s repeated rudeness towards Petra.
  • There are rumors suggesting that the Discord leak played a significant role in Yugo Asuma’s decision to graduate, although this hasn’t been officially confirmed. NIJISANJI mentioned that Yugo frequently deviated from his schedule by streaming at irregular times and sometimes without proper preparation. Additionally, he unintentionally exposed a conversation between him and his manager during a live stream.

Yugo Asuma’s YouTube channel boasts approximately 400,000 subscribers. The Virtual star had been absent from streaming for several weeks due to a hiatus. However, out of the blue, a surprising announcement was made regarding his unforeseen departure from the team.
