How Did Squidward Die?

There is currently a popular TikTok trend that is gaining immense popularity. In this trend, creators film a brief video showcasing their reactions before and after searching for information on Squidward’s demise. According to the top search result, a fictitious episode of SpongeBob SquarePants called “Squidward’s Suicide” depicts the character Squidward, an octopus, tragically ending his life by shooting himself in the head with a shotgun.

The planned season four premiere episode of Spongebob Squarepants, known as Squidward’s Suicide or Red Mist in the Creepypasta community, never aired. According to a Nickelodeon intern, the show’s production team gathered to watch the episode, but what they witnessed on the tape shocked them. Unapproved and disturbing visuals, accompanied by eerie sound effects, unfolded before their eyes, which were never intended to be a part of the episode.

Squidward’s Suicide

The episode began with the opening credits of Squidward’s Suicide, followed by the camera focusing on Squidward struggling to play his clarinet. His practice session is abruptly interrupted by Patrick and SpongeBob laughing loudly outside his house. Annoyed, Squidward pleads with them to be quiet as he needs to prepare for an upcoming concert. Unfortunately, his performance turns out to be a disaster, with the audience booing him relentlessly. In his bedroom, Squidward can be seen weeping, his head buried in his knees, overwhelmed with sadness and shame. It takes a while before Squidward gathers the courage to face the camera, revealing his bloodshot eyes, similar to the others before him, while the background crying intensifies. The sobbing abruptly ceases, and the camera captures Squidward with a shotgun pressed against his mouth. From off-screen, a deep voice urges him to take his own life. After a few moments, Squidward pulls the trigger, and just before the episode ends, the camera zooms out one final time, revealing his lifeless body.
