Kadokawa Shoten published TAGRO’s manga, which had a single tankoubon volume released from 2010 to 2011.

Instead, it focuses on Panty and Stocking, two Anarchy sisters who were expelled from Heaven due to their immoral actions. These angelic sisters find themselves banished to Daten City, a city situated on the border between Heaven and Hell. Upon their arrival, they are confronted with an infestation of malevolent spirits called “Ghosts” plaguing the city’s inhabitants. Seeking shelter and guidance, Panty and Stocking turn to their preacher-boss, Reverend Garterbelt, and make it their mission to use their abilities to eradicate the Ghosts, hoping to redeem themselves and earn their place back in Heaven.

In their quest to defeat evil spirits, the sisters opt for an unorthodox approach by using their underwear as weapons. However, Panty and Stocking fail to take their duties seriously, despite the potential for heavenly favor. Instead, they indulge in their personal interests while residing in Daten City. Stocking has a never-ending craving for sweets, constantly stuffing her mouth, while Panty seeks intimate encounters with various individuals. With its stylistic resemblances to Imaishi’s previous works, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt emerges as a unique venture primarily because of its captivating visuals. Unlike the typical anime appearance, the animation style of Panty and Stocking exudes a more Western vibe. Additionally, the storyline of the show is notably coarser compared to Gainax’s other creations. Centering around the Anarchy sisters, Panty and Stocking, the television show revolves around their expulsion from heaven as angels due to their unruly behavior.

Panty and Stocking, due to their misdeeds, are banished to Daten City, a place situated between heaven and hell.
